Meet the Team

Norton Grove Stud is a family run business that has been operating for over 40 years, led by Richard with his wife Maggie and employing three generations of the Lingwood family along with a number of dedicated and reliable staff

Maggie Lingwood

Maggie has worked at Norton Grove Stud for over 50 years and is the Stud Secretary. Maggie is also involved with the hands on day to day work with the horses. Her knowledge of all matters equine is widely respected throughout the racing and racehorse breeding community in Ryedale.

Richard Lingwood

Richard and the family have been operating the stud since 1995.

On average Richard foals 60 plus mares a season with the help of his family and dedicated staff. The Stud’s record for most foals in a season is an impressive 89

Richard Lingwood

Richard has been working with horses all of his life starting out producing show jumping and hunters, to moving into breeding racehorses in the 1960's for Major Hudson before taking over 1995.

Margaret Lingwood

Maggie as known by many, has worked with racehorses from the 1960s for Major Hudson before taking over 1995 along with her Husband Richard.

Tina Pople

Tina is Richard & Margaret's daughter. She has worked for the stud all her life bringing a vast amount of knowledge and skills to the yard. She helps with everything from office work to foaling and every day yard jobs.

Jessica Rummel

Jessica is the oldest Granddaughter. She spends a lot of her days exercising the horses and working with the vets throughout the foaling season. Jessica can often be seen at the sales as she often represents the stud on both selling our horses and parading the stallions when on show.

Laura Bailey

Laura is the youngest granddaughter. She plays a large part in keeping the yard running daily. She is often found driving our yard machinery.

Will Bailey

Will is married to Laura the youngest granddaughter. Will is a big part of the yard. He is the first in on morning, helping feed the yard. Will drives and maintains the yard vehicles, along with handling all the horses. He also is on call for foaling throughout the foaling season.

Ian Pople

Ian is Known by many as ginger. He has been working for the yard since 1992. Ian takes great pride in his work. He loves caring for all the horses and our yard cats. Ian regularly handles the stallions and helps muck out and feed the horses daily.

Mandy

Mandy is Chloe’s mum she has worked in horses a lot of years and is part of the day to day running like Chloe but also looks after the stallions

Chloe

Chloe has been with us since she left school and helps with the day to day running of the stud mucking out looking after mares and foals and brushing yearlings etc.

Jenna

Jenna is studying at York and helps us out on her days off she enjoys looking after the horses and is often found on the back off the feed tractor feeding the outside horses

Kevin

Kevin has been with us for over a year and plays a vital part in the yard and it's every day running.

Eddie

Eddie has been with us for several years now, he works part time for us alongside his full time work as a groundsman.
